Test Our Connectivity
As a UK based host we can deliver web pages and files very quickly to you and your visitors. Try out the File Speed Test and/or Ping test by following the instructions below.
Test 1 - File Speed Test
The files below can be downloaded to demonstrate the speed of our bandwidth and connectivity to the internet. Please choose a file that is appropriate for your connection and look at the sustained download rate as it downloads. Our large bandwidth connections, coupled with the fact that our servers are located less than 25 milliseconds away from anywhere in the UK means that neither you, nor your visitors, will ever have to wait; pages and files will be downloaded as fast as their connection can handle.

8 Mb Broadband
N.B. These files contain random binary data to avoid on-the-fly compression, and will be totally useless to you beyond ascertaining how fast our connections to the internet are. We therefore recommend that you delete them once the download has been completed.
Test 2 - Ping Test
You can get a rough estimate as to how well placed and close to your UK visitors our servers are by pinging them.
Ensure that you're not downloading or using the internet heavily
Go to the Windows Start Bar, click Run (Or hold the Windows button and press "R")
At the run prompt type cmd
A black screen with a command prompt should open
Type ping www.tidalwaveuk.co.uk and hit enter
What to look for
Time - It takes the human eye on average 300 - 400 milliseconds to blink and our servers about 25 to respond to your request!
Timing Range - Compare the minimum and maximum times, the closer the better as the more stable the line
Packet Loss - Another indicator of reliability, 100% of packets sent should be returned.
Test 3 - Trace Route Test
This test shows the path packets take from your machine to our servers, the shorter the path the better.
Ensure that you're not downloading or using the internet heavily
Go to the Windows Start Bar, click Run (Or hold the Windows button and press "R")
At the run prompt type cmd
A black screen with a command prompt should open
Type tracert www.tidalwaveuk.co.uk and hit enter
What to look for
No of Hops - Each line is a different "hop" (router) along the route to our datacentre. The fewer the better.
